How Much Does a Kitchen Remodel Cost in Broward County?

"How much will my kitchen cost?" is the first question almost every homeowner asks. The honest answer is that it depends on a handful of decisions, and once you understand them, you can plan a budget that matches what you want. This guide walks through the main cost drivers for kitchen remodels in Cooper City, Davie, Weston, Pembroke Pines and the rest of Broward County.

Note: The ranges below are general planning figures, not quotes. Material prices and labor change, and every kitchen is different. The only way to get an accurate number is an in-home estimate based on your actual space.

What drives the cost of a kitchen remodel

1. Layout changes

Keeping sinks, appliances and walls where they are is the single biggest way to control cost. Moving plumbing, gas or electrical, or removing a wall, adds engineering, permits and labor. Sometimes it is worth it - an open kitchen can change how the whole house works - but it should be a deliberate choice.

2. Cabinets

Cabinets are often the largest material cost. Stock cabinets cost the least, semi-custom lines offer more sizes and finishes, and fully custom cabinetry costs the most. Cabinet box material matters in Florida's humidity, so it is worth asking what is under the finish.

3. Countertops

Quartz is the most popular choice we see because it is durable and low maintenance. Granite and quartzite vary widely in price by slab. Edge profiles, waterfall ends and full-height slab backsplashes add cost.

4. Size of the kitchen

More linear feet of cabinets and counters means more material and labor. An island adds cabinets, countertop, and often electrical and plumbing.

5. Permits and code requirements

Electrical, plumbing and structural changes typically require permits from your city. Permit fees and the time to get approval are part of the budget. Older homes may also need electrical updates to meet current code once walls are opened.

How to plan your kitchen budget

  • Decide what matters most. Storage, an island, an open layout, or premium finishes? Rank your priorities.
  • Set aside a contingency. Plan on an extra 10 to 15 percent for surprises, especially in older homes.
  • Choose materials early. Final selections before construction help keep the schedule and price stable.
  • Get a detailed written estimate. A line-by-line scope makes it easy to compare and adjust.
